Preventive Maintenance

Don’t wait till your ambulance or wheelchair bus is broken down!  Preventive maintenance is the key to minimizing breakdowns and road service calls.  Below is just an example of a preventive service, it’s not just an oil change! Our Autotronics technicians are trained to look for possible signs of wear and tear and repair issues.   

Under Hood

Oil change and oil filter (100hr/3000miles)

Check all fluid levels/ fill to proper levels

Transmission/ torque service (15000 miles)

Inspect drive belts and tensioner/idlers (60000miles)

Inspect air filter (replace if necessary)/clean box

Battery cable/condition/ appearance

Coolant additive 12 months/50000 miles

Intake purge and clean 6.0 L only (75000 miles)

Retorque turbo and exhaust bolts (24000 miles)

Inspect radiator, hoses, fan, and clutch

Tire valves and caps

Fuel Additive every 3000 miles

 

Under Vehicle

Inspect ball joints

Inspect radius arm bushings

Check wheel bearing tolerance

Clean and repack bearings/replace after 30000miles

Brake inspection/replace pads after 60% wear

Check and grease chassis (3000 miles)

Front end visual inspection

Drive line lube, U joints, and inspections

Check rear axle bolts (15000 miles)

Rear axle service (15000 miles) LS Additive

Overall visual under chassis inspection

Check hoses, cable, wires, plugs/supports

Inspect body mounts

Suspension components

IPD sway control- inspect

Shock absorbers- inspect (50000 miles)

Back up alarm

Neutral safety switch/ Grease connection

Interior/Exterior

Seat covers and floor mats

Tire inspection pressure check (3000 miles/Max 60% wear)

External chassis inspection

Exterior/interior lights including warning lights

All glass and mirrors

Wiper and washer inspections

Check all doors, hinges, latches, and striker bolts

Spray all door locks with lubricant (3000 miles)

Inverter/battery maintainer

Weather seals inspection

Visual body inspection

Check patient compartment lighting

Visual inspect patient compartments

Stretcher mounts and plate inspection

Proper function of all seatbelts and retractors

Interior condition of cab

Interior condition of patient area

Proper function of instrument panel

Rear bumper, rubrail, and step inspection

Gas struts and squad bench latches

Trash and sharps containers/covers

Heat and A/C systems

Siren System

Communication antennas

Onspot chains

Glass Inspection

Test drive (minimum of 5 miles)
